Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

since i did the premliminary task i feel i have learnt alot. one thing would be working in a group where the other members are always putting their ideas forward and listened to my ideas. i feel i learnt alot more about how different camera angles change the audiences perception of people or objects.

how did you attract/address your audience?

How did you attract/address your audience?

To attract our audeince we researched into ghost films or films of the horror genre, one member of our group had recently seen paranormal activity so gave us ideas from that film as it was the most recent one out. We also took ideas from other films but changed them to make them orginal but look good. This is so we kept the audiences attention.

Who would be the audience for your media product?

Who would be the audience for your media product?

The audience for my media product would be for anyone over the age of 18. We decided that it should be this age because of the use of an Ouija board and by how dangerous it is to use it; it could make younger children think that it is safe to use one. Also because it is one of those types of horror film where it is unsuitable for anybody under the age of 18 to watch. The audience can appeal to either gender as it is not directed to a certain gender. We had previously research about film ratings and found that an 18 has violence, drugs, heavy swearing and much more in it. We decided it would appropriate that our film should be rated an 18.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

As i took media at GCSE i had experience of the software that the school had to make our project. The only thing that i had forgotten how to use was all the short cuts on the key board of the apple mac. Ehe only thing i found different was listeing to other peoples opinions before editing as last year i worked on my own.

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

My media product used, developed and challenged the forms and conventions of real media products in many different ways. By looking at previous opening title sequences of real horror and thriller films (paranormal activity and witchboard) i began to collect ideas and shots which i thought would be good to use within my own title sequence. I got the idea of how i wanted my finished product should look like, also how it should make the viewer feel by the lighting and the music. The atmosphere should create a suspense to keep the audience on the edge of their seats so they dont get bored or feel they cant follow what is going on. This was made by the use of the music, it was quite eerie and would sometimes leave an eerie silence in order to spook the audience. The music also fitted in with with the camera shots i had used.

When looking at the other opening title sequences one of the main thing is the credits, telling you who is in the film and who directed and edited it. One of the thing that my group didn't want to do was to just insert credits straight from imovie as they are rather plain and alot of other people in our class was using them so we wanted something original. So the idea of using a book as a diary was created, because of the era the ghost child is from we had to make a diary look old. To do this we stained the pages with coffee and tea to give it that aged look. Annie then wrote the credits in the book in neat old style writing, we included who was staring in the film and who edited and directed. We also have a diary entry written in the diary which is read out by Annie. This is how our film will start, with the book opening on its own.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

I dont think that our opening title sequence represents a particular social group, i believe it appeals to all social groups the same. although, saying that it might appeal more to people who are into that kind of paranormal stuff. we did not want our opening title sequence to represent a film which is highly sterotyped like most other films are. For example, you know that an action movie will be full of women wearing revealing cloths and fast cars.

However, our film is to do with contacting the unkown, it might appeal to people like path readers, phychics and styptics. As they look into peoples past to tell people how they are doing or what they say about each other. The characters that we portray in our film are just your average every day students with no click they do not look like girly girls or a typical basketball player. they are noot seen as "popular" or "geeks" so it would maybe interest everyone (except the people who are scared of paranormal stuff).
